All relationships are very tough, it is tough to navigate through the emotions, situations, tempers and concerns that a relationship brings in. But the toughest of all relationships is marriage. It is God himself who made marriage. In fact, it is the very first human-to-human relationship that ever existed.
3 Basic Needs
THE NEED FOR LOVE
THE NEED FOR SIGNIFICANCE
THE NEED FOR SECURITY
1) Keep your heart with all diligence
Proverbs 4:23 Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.
2) Make sure she or he is a believer
1 Corinthians 7:39 A wife is bound by law as long as her husband lives; but if her husband dies, she is at liberty to be married to whom she wishes, only in the Lord.
2 Corinthians 6:14 Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?
Amos 3:3 Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?
1 Corinthians 9:5 Do we have no right to take along a believing wife, as do also the other apostles, the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas?
3) Pray for God’s wisdom to make a wise choice in choosing your life partner.
James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
4) Examine a person’s testimony.
Ruth 3:10–11 Then he said, “Blessed are you of the LORD, my daughter! For you have shown more kindness at the end than at the beginning, in that you did not go after young men, whether poor or rich.
11 And now, my daughter, do not fear. I will do for you all that you request, for all the people of my town know that you are a virtuous woman.
5) Seek the counsel of godly people (parents, church elders….etc)
Proverbs 11:14 Where there is no counsel, the people fall; But in the multitude of counselors there is safety.
